TFG and DB IS celebrate 10 years at terminal Leipzig-Wahren
31.08.2011 - Rail operator TFG Transfracht and DB Intermodal Services GmbH celebrated their 10 year anniversary at the terminal Leipzig-Wahren on August 30. Experts from the container business as well as commercial and industrial decision makers will commemorated this day with tours of the terminal and of the portal cranes.
The AlbatrosExpress has been operating in the region of Leipzig since the 1990s – back then it used the terminal Leipzig-Stötteritz. When the transport volume increased drastically at the turn of the new millennium, TFG decided to move to the newly built and considerably bigger terminal Leipzig-Wahren in 2001. Soon DB Intermodal Services became a reliable partner at the terminal who made use of the possibilities in the freight traffic centre to build a spacious depot which keeps expanding every year.
In the past decade TFG has transported a total of 400,000 TEU to the economic region of Leipzig. Today the AlbatrosExpress offers 16 connections per week between the terminal Leipzig-Wahren and the German Seaports Hamburg and Bremerhaven. With the newly finished expansion, the terminal Leipzig-Wahren has a current capacity of 4,500 TEU.
